Thanks for the memories.
|
I'm gone from Azshara, burnt out on raiding for a while. Getting hacked sucked, but the break made me think a bit and I'm just going to chill for a while. I'm going to university again this fall and will probably take a break from WoW this summer until Cataclysm. PvP time on my own schedule is in the cars.
Thanks to all of those who helped to make Delirium a nice place to spend a year, through good times and bad, all of the frustrations and the victories.
Bio, Nal, and everyone else who's come and gone, good luck!

The Troubles
|
As you've heard my account was hacked. I have an authenticator. I use AVG, Avast, Windows defender and Spybot. I do not use the curse.com client.
The trouble was emcor.dll
It's a trojan that can apparently only be detected by a scan if the scan is done while the Blizzard launcher is activated. It's the only way an authenticated account can be hacked, it tricks the system long enough for them to get in and change your password and set up a new mobile authenticator. Why more people don't know about this I don't know, Blizzard does, but now you do.
Run your WoW launcher to the password screen, then run Spybot or a similar program, and also search under users/appdata or a similar folder for emcor.dll.
I've contacted blizzard by email, tried all night to get through by phone but no luck. My account was also baned for 72 hours for engaging in gold selling practices and messing with the auction house economy (sigh....), so that's the first thing I've got to do.
We'll have to see how far they'll go towards restoration in the next day or two, best case probably means I'm logged back in in the next day or two but broke and naked.
Stay tuned.....
